Records, 1989-1991.

Records of a social and environmental action group founded ca. 1989 in Madison, Wis. primarily among University of Wisconsin students. UW Greens are generally critical of "the limitations of traditional environmentalism," and embrace the concepts of deep ecology, social ecology, eco-feminism, community-based organizing, bioregionalism, and ecological direct action. The collection reflects the Greens' early and evolving organizational structure and some of their activities. Included is a brief history of the group written in 1991 by Dawn Dubats; a statement of the group's ten key values; brochures; discussion papers ("Green Paper"); clippings; position papers; orientation packet (1990); circular letters; charter and working guidelines of Greens USA; press releases; posters; and fact sheets.
